I have a thing for summer chairs. Love the light and shadow on these and on the wooden fence behind.

Can't Decide
A few moments earlier a pinkish tinge of sunset's dying moments resulted in a very different look. Which one do you like?

Golden Sun
It's that perfect photographic time of day when the soft golden sun casts hard shadows that are duplicated in mirror-like reflections.

The Baytowne Bird
Although he may not look real, this bird was squawking away at sunset in front of the yachts at Baytowne Wharf.

Dappled Sunlight on Bike
The little boys next door just love riding their bikes in the parking area. They're the cutest little guys but really force us to be vigilant backing out!

From The Crab Trap
I love the all-greys of this dusk photo, with only the lights in the hut at the end of the pier as contrast.

Flying High But Not Birds
Two beautiful objects seen in the sky over the beach today - a beach with wall-to wall humanoids soaking up the sun.

Alexandre DesPelican
A flock of about 50 pelicans put on a show for the beach throngs this afternoon as they swooped and dove over and over into the surf for lunch. It was tricky getting pictures because I couldn't see a thing on the screen with the brightness of the day so I aimed and just kept pressing the shutter button. Most of my shots were just sky but a few were spectacular.

Comic Book Effect
This is interesting. I am not sure how I am getting this effect in some of my photos. It looks like a drawing. Okay, I'll read my instruction book. Anyway, it's kind of neat in this particular picture - a young girl flying her kite on the beach. I love the splashes of colour.

Stark
There is something other-worldly about this dead tree with a birdhouse in it, stark against the hazy blue sky.

Look Fast, It Won't Last
Yes, it's Archie on the beach! Sitting in one of our $16.99 chairs under our $9.99 umbrella from Alvin's Beach Emporium. He lasted long enough to eat lunch, then complained it was too cold (it DID get a little overcast). So we left and drove 2-1/2 hours to Tallahassee to see a production of God of Carnage. It was excellent but hardly worth 5 hours on the road and dinner at Zaxbys - yuck!

Crazy Americans (just kidding!)
March 7 Post
Not a very aesthetically pleasing shot but an amazing subject! Went to an oyster bar yesterday called Dusty's in Panama City Beach. The walls and ceilings are PLASTERED with U.S. $1 bills - thousands if not hundreds of thousands! It looks like most are signed by the contributor. In a recession!
Lord Love a Duck
March 6 Shot!
Just call me the bird woman. Must say, I was impressed with the colour and sharpness in this image with my new little point and shoot. I LOVE this camera!

Illusory Waves
I tried to capture the huge waves in the gulf today but the camera just doesn't quite do justice to the reality. Then I looked at the photo and saw a kind of optical illusion. Can anyone see what I mean? (Is anyone looking?) Hint: it has to do with thirds.

Another bird? Come on!
I can only tell you it's a bird - though we are staying on Heron Walk, it doesn't look like any heron I've ever seen! Still, he's quite regal.
Sand and Surf
Darn! Forgot to post last night! My new Florida friend. Love that he's white and black like the sand and his shadow.
You wouldn't know to look that it's VERY cool right now.

First Florida Image
Destin is located on a narrow strip of land along the northern coast of the Gulf of Mexico. It is supposed to have some of Florida's most beautiful beaches (haven't seen them yet since it was dark when we arrived this evening). As we crossed a narrow causeway with gulf water on both sides, I captured this great image of an encroaching weather front, one lone tree in the foreground.
Blizzard and Blue Ridge
Tried to post this last night from the hotel - my longest blog (text) ever but, no go and didn't save so here's the shortened version: Tried to leave for Florida Tues. night to beat the storm, discovered passports missing, to Ottawa Wed., jumped through hoops, lots of help from great bureaucrats, got passports, 3 hours back to Perth in blizzard, into bed exhausted, up early Thu. morning (photo above out back porch before leaving), 14 hours on road (photo below out car window at 10:00 last night of the Blue Ridge Mtns. in silouette - no snow but just 1 degree celcius in North Carolina). Up now and ready to hit the road for 11 more hours - YAY, an adventure!
